Bright10 says most South African professional-firm websites fail basic mobile usability and lose clients as a result
The Cape Town studio identifies the three most common failures and says fixes are usually straightforward.
Share on XCAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — 14 July 2026 — Bright10, a web design and branding studio based in Cape Town, says most South African professional-firm websites fail basic mobile usability standards, causing firms to lose potential clients before a conversation even begins.
The studio, which audits professional-firm websites weekly, reports that the majority of law, accounting and financial-advisory firms in South Africa still present websites designed primarily for desktop screens. With more than 60 per cent of South African web traffic now arriving on mobile devices, the mismatch is costing firms enquiries they never see.
We audit professional-firm websites every week, and the pattern is consistent: the site looks fine on the designer's laptop but falls apart on the phone in the client's hand. The good news is that the fixes are almost always simple and inexpensive.

According to Bright10, the three most common failures are text that requires pinching and zooming to read, phone numbers and addresses embedded in images rather than plain text, and contact forms that do not function correctly on small screens.
The studio notes that these issues are usually inexpensive to fix and do not require a full website rebuild. A page that loads in under three seconds and presents key information clearly on a phone meets the standard that both users and search engines now expect.
Bright10 runs a free website audit at bright10.co.za/audit that scores a live site on search visibility, speed, content and mobile usability, and emails the report at no cost.
