Bright10 publishes an honest comparison of South African web design options — including when not to hire an agency

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA — 15 July 2026 — Bright10, a web design and branding studio based in Cape Town, has published a comparison of the options available to South African businesses choosing who should build their website — including an explicit account of when the studio is the wrong choice.

The comparison sets out four models: independent freelancers, template-based website builders, full-service agencies, and studios offering a build plus an ongoing care plan. Rather than positioning one as universally superior, the guide describes what each genuinely does well and the type of business it suits.

According to Bright10, the question that most reliably exposes a poor fit is who remains accountable for search visibility after launch. The studio says most quotations end at the point of launch, which is where the work of actually being found begins.

The guide states plainly that a business needing a website within a week for under R2,000 should use a template builder rather than the studio, and that a business seeking the lowest possible price will be better served by a freelancer.
